“The 20th century was filled with a number of highly successful firearm designs, and one of the most popular, undoubtedly, is the AR-15 platform. However, when designing the Robinson Armament XCR-L Standard, company engineers decided to enhance the design by borrowing elements from the AR, AK-47 and the FN FAL to produce an improved product.
Standing for Xchangeable Caliber Rifle, the Robinson Armament XCR-L Standard certainly borrows many modular elements from the AR-15, like having a separate upper and lower receiver and the ability to add multi-caliber uppers onto a serialized lower. The design also allows for the use of most standard AR grips. Enhancements were borrowed from the FAL and AK-47 in the form of a non-reciprocating bolt handle, adjustable gas system and a strengthened, three-lug bolt.”
